I feel wonderfully blessed to live right down the street from the Self Realization Fellowship Meditation Gardens in Encinitas. This place is a magnificently serene enclave to relax and clear your mind, a vivd reminder of the sublime beauty of the natural world. I love meandering through the manicured gardens, gazing over the koi ponds, and taking in the stunningly beautiful view of Swamis beach.
Sometimes it is difficult to take a moment to truly relax, to focus on your spiritual wellbeing. However, when you are surrounded by botanical perfection and the soothing sounds of waves crashing onto the shore, you can’t help but be transported to a place of complete zen. Biophilia– which literally means “love of life or living systems”- is a term that defines the indistinct bond between human beings and living things, such as plants. It suggests that people are hard-wired to subconsciously seek a connection with other living things, which explains why we feel so at peace when surrounded by nature. It is almost ironic that a sign of a highly-evolved society is the development of man-made structures, when humans are actually happier when surrounded by living, breathing nature. Perhaps if more of the world was like the Meditations Garden, we would live in a more peaceful planet.
A true gem of Encinitas, the Meditation Gardens is one of the most tranquil places I have ever visited and I could easily spend hours in reflection here. In fact, people travel from all over the world to attend spiritual retreats at this beautiful location, and it’s easy to see why. Everyone needs to set aside time to relax and be at peace with yourself. The Meditation Gardens is the perfect place to do just that!
